Southwest Airlines Cancellation Policy

 If you book a flight with them, Rapid Rewards points will be refunded to your loyalty account. If you book a flight with cash, the money will be refunded or converted into Southwest Travel Funds depending on the type of your fare.

Even if your reservation is non-refundable, you can get a refund in the original form of payment or turn it into travel funds within 24 hours of booking.

Southwest Airlines Cancel Flight Compensation

Under Southwest airlines cancellation policy, if, as a result of the situation under Southwest's control, in which the flight was delayed by three hours or more, passengers are entitled to compensation for the canceled flight from Southwest Airlines, unless:

  • Passengers do not have a confirmed reservation and are traveling at a rate that is not available
  • If the passenger is informed of the cancellation or delay of a Southwest flight at least 15 days prior to the scheduled departure of the flight.
  • If Southwest Airlines cancels the flight event due to a situation beyond the control of the airline
  • If the passengers have already received compensation for the cancellation of the Southwest ticket
  • If the passenger has not applied for the cancellation of the Southwest flight within one year of the flight's delay or cancellation

Southwest Airlines Refund Policy

  • Anytime and Business Select fares are refundable if passengers cancel up to one hour prior to scheduled departure and have the option to receive a refund using their original payment method within 7-10 business days.
  • If passengers cancel their Southwest booking within 24 hours via southwest.com, the mobile app, or the Southwest customer service number, passengers will receive a full refund of any fare, reverting to their original payment method, or elect to convert it into future travel credit. which remains in effect for up to one year from the original booking date.
  • The refund of the canceled Southwest flight will apply to the unused portion of the ticket.
